  The male Southern Masked Weaver

builds a nest for its beloved.

He pays attention to details because

his future bride will pull it to pieces

if the nest is not up to her standard.

Future father weaver commences all over again.

Father lion allowed his wives and children

to rest on the other side of the road.

Apparently this is an unusual sight,

seeing the male and female ostrich together.

Less than 10 percent of nests survive

the 9 weeks of laying and incubation.

Of those that do survive only fifteen percent

of chicks survive to one year of age.

However, if an ostrich can survive to adulthood,

they are expected to live 40-45 years in the wild

and over 60 years in captivity.

I was a bit tardy with posts over the weekend

because we were dreaming of Africa next year.

And booking airfares took priority.

We also had tickets to see the

Lion King movie on Saturday night.

During previous visits to Africa

we were lucky to meet our version of

Simba and Nala…

…and Zazu was everywhere.

We even met Pumbaa.

If you dream of going to Africa, and cannot,

the 2019 Lion King movie is

the next best thing.

The animation was so real it

felt like we were in Africa again.

Word-of-Day-Challenge-Target

~~~~~
target
a person, object, or place selected as the aim of an attack.
Bullecourt Battlefield
World War I.
British forces were gathered at the bottom
of the hill with their target,
the German Army, at the top of the hill.
Thousands over men were lost in this battle
mainly because British Officers forbade
their men to take cover as they rose from their trenches.
Apparently there were four or five of these abortive
attempts to take the high ground before
the generals in charge gave the okay
for soldiers to protect themselves from
the German Army’s enfilade fire
