Earlier in the week I posted a shot of where our Grass Tree was planted.

DSC_0336Much has changed since that photo was taken.  This is how it looked today.

The first time that both the Agapanthus and it’s companion plant (paler green foliage, name eludes me) have flowered together.

Near the top left hand corner of this shot, through the flax,

is the grass trees replacement.

An Agave…more about this next week.

Flower Friday – Frosty

About a week or so back we had a few frosts which turned the ground white.  While taking a few photos of the frost I noticed that some of our plants still had, or are just beginning to come into bloom.

With joints aching from cold weather and all other things associate with one’s seventh decade, I managed to snap a few images which I thought would brighten my winter.

Also interesting to read on some blogs that the northern hemisphere summer commenced on June 21(ish).  That was when the seasons began/ended, on the solstice/equinox when I was at school.  Somewhere along the line Australian media hijacked the seasons and we have had a month of winter, already!

Hope you enjoy.

Flower Friday – Camellia

I only discovered Flower Friday earlier this week…my first contribution.

As mentioned earlier in the week, today’s post is some photos of some early Camellia blooms which border our Japanese Garden.

Our Camellia ‘Volunteer‘ had only two open blooms at the time of photographing it, but is covered in buds.  With a bit of luck I may be able to bring you more colourful pictures in a week or two.

The above picture is as nature provided, however…..

…..using the digital tools available this bloom looks far better, I think, the ‘right’ way up.

Also interesting to read on some blogs that the northern hemisphere summer commenced on June 21(ish).  In the 1950s, my teachers taught us that seasons Down Under aligned with solstices/equinoxes.

Somewhere along the line Australian media hijacked seasons and we have had a month of winter, already!  And, of course, we continually hear  that it has been a warm start to winter, a cold start to spring, and so on.  That is all from my soapbox…this week.

Hope you have a great weekend.
