Most of Western Victoria’s ‘Mountains‘,

such as Mt Elephant, are little more

than hills when compared to the

younger mountains of other countries.

art

the expression or application of human creative skill
and imagination, typically in a visual form such as
painting or sculpture, producing works to
be appreciated primarily for their beauty
or emotional power.

I think I like street art because

it is on a grand scale.

What was I saying about a grand scale?

Unfortunately, the Geelong Cement Works

met its maker in April 2020,

along with its art.

A small country town (Corindhap) about halfway

to Ballarat, turned an aging pine tree

Avenue of Honour into

an Avenue of Honour of Statues.

And I have been told on several occasions…

…that there is no skill in photography.

I beg to differ!

However, I believe art is

in the eye of the beholder.

A landscape or the result of landscaping?

Many South West Victorian farms have

changed their landscape from one

which grazed sheep and cattle to one

which grows trees and is far less intensive.

A little over 100 years ago this idyllic

French landscape would have appeared

anything but idyllic as Villers Bretonneux

was in the middle of some of the

heaviest fighting of World War I.

As the sun goes down…

I must confess to procrastinating this week

and decided that rather than give

other parts of the world a ‘plug’,

I would plug my own backyard

as I think it is pretty good.

Storm clouds rolling in from the West.

It has been a few years since I have had

a prolonged thunderstorm within range.

On January 27, 2016

these clouds dumped rain on Geelong

causing floodwaters to fill low lying areas

with three feet of water.

With the Moorabool Valley near by

the Midland Highway often gets

shrouded with fog

Moorabool Valley…

…fog.

And then the sun shines over the valley…
