Margerie Glacier

~~~~~
When ice falls away from the glacier
it is called calving.
Although the ice chunks did not appear large
from our vantage point, to create
this reaction that assumption
had to be wrong
Word-of-Day-Challenge-Crush
~~~~~

crush

deform, pulverize, or force inwards by compressing forcefully

A calving

Margerie Glacier…

…makes a bit of a splash as ice hits the sea.

It is not until you realise that

the Glacier face is about 250 feet high (above water)

and the splash is about one third the height of the face

and factor in the amount of ice required

to create a splash that high…

…that you realise that these small vessels

might conceivably be crushed

should they wander too close

to the action.
