Cee’s

Black and White Challenge:

Perspective

~~~~~
When we first moved to Geelong, or maybe before,
we noticed this art work at the bay end of Moorabool Street.
sailing_0195
No-one we asked seemed to know if it had a name
or when it was put there,
so we coined the name
The Sharks Teeth‘.
sailing_0214
It was not until last year that a camera club member asked
what I was talking about.
Upon explaining he burst out laughing with
I’ve heard it called a lot of things, but never sharks teeth
sailing_0196
 Apparently they represent sails or sail boats.
This all makes sense as quite often there is a small flotilla
of sailing boats on the bay all crewed by children,
and therefore, I have not taken any photos of said boats
as they are usually close enough to shore
for the crew to be identified.
Weekly Photo Challenge-Against-The-Odds
My contribution for this week’s challenge…
Against The Odds
~~~~~

On Valentines Day were asked to “double date’

(as MGW told her teenage girls at work) with

No. 1 Son and his Girlfriend.

Girlfriend said she had not had fish and chips

since arriving in Australia.

The venue was to be our place until Girlfriend decided

that fish and chips had to be eaten outdoors.

Girlfriend loves Geelong’s foreshore and that was the venue.

I thought we may have had a few seagulls for company, but…

sparrow_4878

when this sparrow alighted on our table and tried desperately

to pull a whole chip out of my hand, I knew

there was an unexpected photo opportunity

if I had my camera at the ready.

sparrow_4872

Not content with a chip, sparrow returned several times

to sample Girlfriend’s banana cake.

Sparrow and I both agreed that Girlfriend needs

more practise baking cakes and that we will be her taste testers 😀

Even though it was a bit chilly…

we have had a cool summer so far…

we all had an enjoyable evening out.

Floral Friday Challenge.

~~~~~
On  Tuesday, Valentines Day, I drove to Ballarat
to photograph some of its old architecture.
_dsc4667
I was somewhat side-tracked by its begonias
being readied for ANZAC Day and the well known
Ballarat Begonia Festival.
_dsc4671
I was just in time to see them being fed and chat to the gardener…
_dsc4675
 who told me that he always plants red in this bed
for ANZAC Day, April 25.
_dsc4712
Some beds were nearly down to foliage only….
_dsc4714
however, there was a splash or two of colour
to brighten the scene.
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Look-like-Faces
~~~

My contribution for this week’s

Things that Look like Faces

Challenge.

At the time of writing I have not visited any other blogs

to see what others may have posted.

I nearly gave the topic a miss until today.

faces_0218

As I drove past an oil refinery near Geelong I noticed

that some of the outer covering on a large container

had fallen off leaving what I thought

were several face like, profiles…

if you use your imagination.faces_0217

This looked better from one hundred metres

than it does here.

fire_faces_0223a

Nearby was one of those chimney fires burning waste product.

I’m sure there are two arms and

an angry head popping up and waving me away.

Valentines Day 2017, has come and nearly gone

at the time of writing this post.

valentines_day_2017_4926

The big difference this year was…

sunset_geelong_4891The big difference this year was that No 1 Son’s girlfriend

organised a fish and chip dinner/eat out

at Geelong’s Eastern Beach.

sunset_geelong_4884

Although a bit on the chilly side of hot for this time of year,

a great night was had by all.

MGW had been telling any of the school girls who asked

what she was doing for Valentines Day,

that we were double dating with our son and girlfriend,

which they thought, or said, was pretty cool.

Not sure if No. 1 Son would have thought so.

However, he is no longer the boss!!!!

sunset_geelong_4883

Why fish and chips?

It is something she has missed,

or has not had ‘family’ to share it with,

since moving to Melbourne.

  It also gave me an opportunity to capture some sundown silhouettes.

~~~~~
Hope you enjoyed.
