Cee’s Black and White Challenge:

Patterns.

~~~~~
My Black and White patterns were all found on Geelong’s Eastern Beach precinct.
pattern_1453I was really excited when I found this photo.
A pattern…then I  realised that it was nearly black when I took the photo.
It is part of a palm tree trunk…flipped 90 degrees.
pattern_1451A board walk…again nearly black and white toning.
pattern_1457My destination looms.  The Wharf Shed…
and a belated Father’s Day lunch and Sunday outing,
nearly a month ago, from the boys.
Father’s Day is the first Sunday in September, in Australia.
Another shot taken with patterns in minds, though not much…
pattern-col_1456original colour as you can see in this shot.
pattern_1471And one last shot, taken with only one post in mind.
Elephant Sands, North East, Botswana.
elephant_0038A short drive over a sandy track…
elephant_0043brought us to the elephant lodge and the Elephant Rules.
elephant_0048Elephant Rules exist because elephants come to drink at a water bore which is situated a mere twenty metres or so from the dining area and bar.
Around 2200 our South African guide, gallantly offered to escort some German tourists back to their camp site only to look to his left, when nearly there, and see an 5 tonne elephant only 5-10 feet from him.
To say he was surprised would be understating the fact.
Above is the ‘chalet’ in which MGW and I had spent the previous night.
Kind of gives an idea of why there are Elephant Rules.
All accommodation circles the watering point and
elephants need to walk in and out past guest accommodation.
Truly a 5 star experience but our, collective,
accommodation was disappointing.
The new tents look much  better.
Elephants.
elephant_0865aOver recent weeks we have been told about, read about and seen many elephants
including this family which surrounded this calf to protect it from predators.
elephant_0870aWe even saw the matriarch of the herd give this youngster a gentle’ hurry up’.
elephant_0922aHowever, there were some herd members who…
elephant_0960aexpressed their displeasure at our presence, near their territory.
Some photos from Botswana.
botswana_08Nearly every town had a small market like this one.
botswana_21The joy about organised travelling is that I don’t have to drive…
botswana_28which makes it much easier to enjoy…
Numbers
Travel Theme.
~~~~~

This afternoon we decided to call in and see how our off-spring are surviving.
number_0466The first thing I noticed was the number 5.

Marvellous how attitudes change when  one manages a liquor store.
number_0467b

I have never taken notice of the numerical information

on the back of bottles before today.

number_0467My reading is usually reserved for the front of the package.

number_0485However, I did notice that when boys need to purchase they do look for value packs.

number_0483Mind boggling the amount of information on a cereal package…
number_0481and I still don’t what the difference is between ‘fat’ and ‘sat fat’.  I assume both are bad.

number_0469All bachelor pads must include one of these…

number_0487 and one of these to amplify the guitars.

number_0472One in retail and the other in finance it wasn’t hard to find a spreadsheet…
number_472or rent numbers lying around the table.

number_0517

 But the numbers which hurt me the most were these.

With unleaded petrol at $1.469 per litre,

or AUD$7.68 per (imperial) gallon,

it did not take long for the meter to run up to $45.

Last photo taken through the windscreen of my car…hence the haziness.
