offering

a thing offered, especially as a gift or contribution.

~~~~~
Back in the 50s and 60s invitation to comunity
events nearly always were tagged with
Ladies bring a Plate.
What was not said or implied was that the plate
would be better if it contained something edible.
As a result of this practice no single family would
be required to supply supper for everyone.
It was a shared responsibility, and
I don’t know why the habit was stopped.
If you are wondering where my plates came from, they
are part of High Tea at Dubai’s
Burj Al Arab
Prior to leaving the village we were enertained by
Something a little more sedate was discovered in
Interesting Buildings
*****
I would love to have had time to visit
this church in the centre of Perth,
Western Australia
Geeloong’s, Upside-Down building,
a very appropriate name for…
…a building that houses government departments.
The Burj Kalifa at 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) to
its peak appears spectacular from below
provides magificent views from waaay
up near the top.
We had heard a bit about Dubai’s
Burj Al Arab prior to our visit in 2016…
…however, nothing prepared us for…
…the extravagant…
…decor of the lobby and public areas.
An elevator from the mezzanine level…
From memory the gold in this drink was moving
