Smudge was a rescue cat and was and still is very timid.

During his first summer with us we decided to

create an area where he could survey is new

surroundings from behind some

flimsy old netting. 

He could and did come out on occassion

to meet the dogs. 

At the end of summer we packed up his hide,

however, he has only made it over to the

house on one ocassion far as we know.

Google tells me this is a

Hibiscus insularis (Phillip Island Hibiscus)

It is also said to be one of the most endangered

plant species in the world.
