A snake track in Greater
Kruger National Park.
While this (20 cm) snake was dead
in our front yard when the dogs
discovered it.
I was so, so pleased that it was dead.
While Astralia is home to some venomous spiders…
..it is simply the thought of these creatures
crawling over me that gives me the shivers.
Not long after we moved from the farm
to our new abode, I opened the front door
one evening and saw a huge spider
climbing up the door frame.
What I did not realised in the half dark
was that it was not such a huge spider as
much as it was an adult carrying the family.
When I brushed it away one spider
became 20 or 30 spiders which had
somehow landed at my bare feet.
Even this one made me jump and it was not
until I realised that the spider had been
covered by a resin by a member of the
Wood Crafter’s Guild whose club
we were visiting, that I relaxed.
