My contribution for this week’s
Housing – How the other half lived
~~~~~
After posting the refugee camp, I thought I would
go in the opposite direction.
The front yard of the Shonbrunn Palace…
inside…
and the back balcony.
We were told that this palace was
the Summer Palace and known as The Cottage
because it only had 1,400 rooms.
The Winter Palace consisted of 3,000 rooms,
so I guess it was a cottage, comparatively speaking.
A vast difference to the accommodation in the refugee camp.
Great photos. I was shocked at how extravagant all the other half lived in Europe. No wonder the plebs revolted. I would have been among them if I had lived then too.
The opulent half … I wouldn’t know too much about that!
That makes both of us. General opinion was it was no wonder there were revolutions when many were starving and others lived like this. Wherever we went we seemed to be assaulted by opulence far beyond anything we could imagine.
