A few months ago l happened along this road…

one of my favourite drives with its stately eucalypts.

 

Many years ago these trees…

 

or perhaps this one, photographed on Thursday…

 

would have seen out there days as part of a dray…

either the frame…

 or a wheel.

MGW first briefly sighted this scene

as we passed by in our coach.

It wasn’t until we had some free time that we

stumbled upon it again and discovered it to be a memorial…

for those who suffered in the

July 14, 2016, terrorist attack

on Promenade des Anglais,

some two months earlier.

It was a rather sobering site and gave us an insight…

to the feelings and reactions of many people.

We only have happy memories of Nice…with

just a peep at its sadder side.
