My
Enlightened
Travel Theme.
~~~~~
I struggled to find an image to suit this week’s challenge,
and have chosen images which reflect
an unenlightened world.
In bygone years the Rack and Scavengers Daughter
were forms of punishment used in the
Tower of London…and elsewhere no doubt.
The Rack stretched while
Scavenger’s Daughter crushed
as can be seen in this image.
Thankfully times have changed…
or maybe the torture is different!
The tower of London has some bone chilling things! Did you see the mask that an executioner wore with a garish face and smile painted on it?
I cannot, quickly, find a picture of it, or remember seeing it. I’m sure it would have made an impression.
Meant to send you this link before now. https://flic.kr/p/nj9Qki the photo of the executioner mask. Slightly out of focus but it’s the only one that turned out
Thanks for the link Tvor. We/I did not see the mask, in fact many of the photos were new to me. All I remember seeing was some suits of armour. However, we had just landed in England a few hours earlier, so may not have been as alert as we should have been. 😊 Thanks again.
Good shots for the theme, we are more enlightened about torture, but not violence perhaps….in general
