I’m catching up with some missed posts for the BW Challenge.
No quite indoor…but under cover.
The rest of my images come from Fort Nepean,
from where the First Shot of both World Wars was fired
My Grandfather was part of the gun crew which fired
The First Shot of World War I.
He would have spent many hours walking
through these passages.

I’m guessing you are referring to the tunnel like walkways at Fort Nepean, which is located on the eastern side of Port Phillip Heads…the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. There was a commemorative celebration held there last year on August 5, to mark 100 years since the first shor was fired in World War I.
It you wish to read anymore of my posts, searching for First Shot World War I will find the two links elbow and more related to WW I.
There is also some Victorian Government websites relating to August 5, 2014 commemorations.
Hope that has been of help.

Yes thanks. I will go and check it out. And I didn’t know about the tunnels at Port Philip Bay.

I suppose they are tunnels…I may have missed named them. However, those shots are all well underground. Does that make them tunnels?

Yes I think you’d call them that.

Your family has quite the history there. Great photos.

It was amazing the number of people (descendants) connected with that day in 1914 who were present at the commemoration last year.
