The didgeridoo is classified as a wind instrument

and is similar in form to a straight trumpet,

but made of wood.

The didgeridoo I purchased during my

1975 Central Australian trip is well

under a metre (39 inches) in length,

but it is a stick which would damage

bone quite easily.

In the autumn of 1975, there was a cairn at the

top of Ayers Rock for visitors to sign.

Standing 348 metres/1142 feet above the

surrounding plain, Ayer’s Rock, now known as Uluru,

covers an area of 3.33 sqkm, or 822.8 acres.

This giant is a monolith 3.6 kilometres (2.2 miles) long,

and 9.4 kilometres (5.8 miles) around.

It is the largest single rock known in the world.

Over my left shoulder, on the horizon are what

in 1974 was known as The Olgas

Now The Olgas are known by their

original name of Kata Tjuta

From memory, The Olgas stand

1500 feet above the plain
