Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Roofs

~~~~~
Roofs from everywhere.
Beginning with a Carousel roof
in Beaune, France.
Still in Beaune a Band Rotunda.
Another Beaune image
taken through window,
I suspect.
Moving on to Paris and
this image captured from
the Eiffel Tower.
Sadly I also suspect that this is a section of the
Notre Dame de Paris roof
that is no more….or at least badly damaged.
The roof/ceiling of Platform 9 and 3/4.
If you are a Harry Potter fan you will
know that this can be found in
London’s King’s Cross Station.
Somewhat closer to home
an Arcade roof in Melbourne
Back in Geelong, the slate roof of a Church.
I commenced  with a Carousel an now
I will end with another,
The Geelong Carousel.
Many years ago we named the
foreground artwork, ‘The Sharks Teeth’
Too many ‘Jaws’ movies I think.
Only found out this year that
they are actually sailing boats.
Even though I have seen this type of boat
on the Bay several times there was no connection
I think they always will be the ‘Sharks Teeth’  🙂
Seems there were many towering photo
opportunities during our European holiday.
The Tower of Pisa.
Maybe not a tower per se, but
York Minster does tower over visitors…
…and locals alike.
The ceiling of
Notre Dame de Paris
also towers above its visitors.
And still towers over Paris…
…rivalled only by this Parisian tower.
On our way back Down Under
we stopped off in Dubai
for a few nights.
I think the Burj Khalifa Tower is my favourite
just for its sheer size.
WeeklyPrompts-Photo-Challenge-Easter
The Good Friday plans of many Parisians and tourists alike
were shattered on Monday when…
Notre Dame de Paris burned.
Approximately 30,000 people visit
Notre Dame de Paris everyday.
And likely thousands more visit
over the Easter period.
It is unlikely that any, of the many Easter services
and celebrations will be conducted
anywhere near Notre Dame, this year.
I think these are some of the statues of
the Twelve Apostles, plus four Evangelists,
which surrounded the Spire.
These had all been removed only
a day or two prior to he fire.
Today, Good Friday appears to bring some good news
as far as items saved are concerned.
Let us all be thankful for small mercies.
We visited
Notre Dame Cathedral
in September,
2016
Built 800 years ago.
Took 200 Years to build.
And a mere six hours to burn…
