Floral Friday Challenge.
~~~~~
In September 2013 I posted this photo of
our north garden bed and our
newly planted cactus/succulents…
whatever you like to call them.
At the top, just before the limelight acacia
is a very small cactus plant.
Today it sports flower like leaves…
and is about 80 cm in diameter.
I haven’t measured it properly,
however each paver is 40 x 40 cm.
Near enough, I say!
It does and last night I noticed the best of those succulents had suffered a shirt front from two teenage dogs, is my guess. One looks perfect, but the dogs took a short cut between it and the house with devastating results. Shirt front…am Australian Rules Football term for when one player A braces himself and plants his shoulder in the region of player B’s sternum. Usually both players are moving in opposite directions….at speed. Fortunately, or unfortunately, this is not accepted these days. But it sure was when I played!
Oh, and didn’t one of our former Prime Ministers talk of shirt fronting some other politician?
You are correct…and I think it was Tony Abbot, shirt fronting Vladimir Putin.
You plant is lovely and I like the flowers but much.
Here is something to remember All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.
All I see in your garden are succulents, but I don’t see a cacti.
I hope to do a blog this week. I guess I will try and show succulents that are not cacti and a few cacti. Please remember I learned my botany about 50 years ago. New science may have change things. I was shocked to learned Penstemons ahave been moved out the family I learned.
I knew as much that there are succulents and cacti. My interpretation of Cacti is those prickly ones and sometimes shown in ‘Wild West‘ movies of some years ago. Maybe succulents do not have prickles? I will bow to anyone who has ‘learned’ botany how ever man years ago. Any knowledge I have gained has been gathered, on the run, during the past thirty years, and often forgotten as quickly as gathered.
