Is African Heron a species? On first sight I’d thought you had a photo of a Little Egret (Egretta garzetta)

I’m afraid that I cannot answer your question, sorry. Just about all birds were African according to our guide were tagged African.
However, based on this page/photograph:
I don’t think it is the Little_Egret_(Egretta_garzetta) as mine does not have the feathers trailing out of its top knot. However, ten years ago I knew nothing about birds and now I know that some of my identifications were maybe incorrect.

That’s the bird in breeding plumage. For non-breeding plumage see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_egret#/media/File:Little_egret_(Egretta_garzetta)_Photograph_by_Shantanu_Kuveskar.jpg
For the id-ing of white birds, you need to look at the colours of eyes, beaks, legs, and feet. That is the basis of my tentative id, since I can’t find a species called African heron. I can’t see the feet for a definite identification.

Fair enough. I can’t argue or even discuss that issue so limited is my bird knowledge.
