Reflections & Shadows.

A variety of reflections and shadows this week.spoonbill_126

sunset-lekhubu_0766I think the boababs in black and white at sunset,

create a better effect than the coloured version…

sunrise lekhubu_0856and a black and white Lekhubu sunrise is as spectacular.

The sun was getting low in the sky when we flew over

the Okavango Delta and created some beautiful reflections…

Cee-Black-White Challenge-What is Beautiful to You

What is beautiful to me.

Last year we met Limpy the lioness at Sausage Tree Safari Camp

in South Africa.

At the time she had two six-week old cubs…

Limpy_0494-2and we have watched them grow during the past year

via Facebook posts.

In early September a Facebook post proclaimed Limpy’s demise.

She had been attacked by other lions and by the time veterinarians

attended her she was in a bad way.

The vets decided that it would be better to end her suffering and

effectively orphaned her cubs.

Fortunately the cubs are nearly old enough

to survive in the wild…we hope.

Limpy-1We all fell in love with Limpy, or maybe, her cubs.

We will always remember Limpy and her cubs as we have had a

picture drawn of the cubs by Warren Cary, a South African artist.

Our picture is also a  black and white, pencil drawing.

It acts a reminder of a beautiful animal, in the wild, and

brings us immense pleasure each time we look at it.

You may be sick of these little fellas…

Cubs_0624however, we will never tire of them, well not for a while.
Cubs_N1472They endeared themselves to everyone…
cubs_0719who saw them that night in October, 2013.

We loved them so much that we decided they would be our

‘souvenir’ and we asked

Warren Carey, a South African artist

to create a pencil drawing of them.

Soon they will adorn our wall.

Some sunset, or may be sunrise, photos.

sunset_0338

I added some photos to a camera club exhibition a few weeks ago..
sunset_0340a lioness, her cubs and several other African wildlife photos.

These are straight from the camera with only a little tweaking in sharpness.

World Cup Rhinos

I cannot be but amazed by these creatures….and amazed further that mankind is doing his best to eradicate them. To, perhaps, paraphrase the song lyrics: “…when will we ever learn, when will we ever learn…”

Fight for Rhinos

Even the rhinos are getting caught up in the excitement of the World Cup!
