Rome’s Trevi Fountain

was one of the biggest disappointments

during our visit in my opinion.

I had mixed it with another Roman fountain

which I had seen in a movie or on television.

That’s right I had not done any research.

I like to see things first hand and

I feel the internet can spoil the ‘Wow’ moment.

I can say I was surprised when

we came upon Trevi Fountain.

It was surrounded by people who

were totally disconnected with other visitors

Planning, bored or discussing the photo

they had taken a few minutes earlier,

while others tried to get a clear shot.

All the ‘sitters’ were utterly disconnected

to the needs, or wants,

of their fellow tourists.

Beginning my fountain post in Australia, with…Sydney’s, El Alamein Fountain in King’s Cross.

My favourite, so far, fountain is to be found in

Brugge’s Het Zand Square, Belgium.

These two shots are after dark shots

and I thought it truly beautiful.

Trevi Fountain in Rome was crowded,

although we were lucky to see it.

It had been closed for several years for renovations.

I think this hot could be mistaken for a sheet of steel.  However….

it is merely a close up of the water of the

Legislative Assembly Building’s fountain…

in Victoria, Canada.

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

A Face In The Crowd

~~~~~
The first two photos I posted recently…
in another challenge.
They may be easily found.
 This morning I found a new face in the crowd.
Can you find that face?
Week 4
12’s-a-Crowd???
We did not move from the farm until 2005.
In that life three vehicles on our road was a traffic jam
and I could go for days without seeing anyone.
So what were my thoughts upon arriving
at the Trevi Fountain?
Tourists!!
Couldn’t they have waited until tomorrow?!
Cee-BW-Challenge-Abandoned-Alone
~~~~~

Although I have titled my post

Abandoned-Alone,

my post this week takes

a slightly different tack…I think.

 A tourist tied to his phone while…

people all around look…

 in the opposite direction.

Resting alone…

while the world passes by.

Finally,

are these two tourists travelling together or alone?

This face says lonely to me.

 And yet they are all in the same location

surrounded by hundreds.

Weekly Photo Challenge-Dense

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

Dense

~~~~~
When we visited the Trevi Fountain…
I did not expect the crowd to be as dense as it was.
t was impossible to gain a viewing spot in
the top right of this shot…in front of the fountain.
Likewise I have never seen streets as
densely packed with tourists, presumably,
as in some of the streets of Rome.
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Good-Bad
~~~

My contribution for this week’s

Good and Bad

Upon arriving in Rome the first thing we

did was go on a walking tour.

trevi_fountain_0186a

down bustling CROWDED streets.

trevi_fountain_0191a

For some reason I had a totally different concept of

the Trevi Fountain, and it took some time

before the Wow! hit me :-).

trevi_fountain_0200a

A fascinating piece of work, and…

trevi_fountain_0210a

a place to spend lots of time.

trevi_fountain_0227a

If only all those tourists…

trevi_fountain_0199awould go to the Colosseum.

Anywhere to leave some room for us. 🙂
