Ginger_1778That’s an intelligent face if ever I saw one.
ginger_0739Ginger also loves being in the back of my ute.

Although if I tell her ‘not today, work

she stops showing interest as she

knows she cannot come with me.

That’s our dogs 🙂

Photos from South Africa.

impala_0160Impala.

khudu_0224Khudu.

elephant_0238These feet belong to Thembo, a 30-year-old, six ton elephant which

our guide raised for some years.

We were told that 2.5 times the circumference of an elephants front foot,

is the same distance as ground to shoulder.

So, next time we wonder how tall is that elephant,

all we have to  do is measure around its foot.

leopard_0729After sighting these feet I would happily have gone home…if I had to.

This sighting occurred around 5 PM on only the second day of our safari.

By then we had seen specimens of all African animals in the wild.

This just topped it off.

I still refer to it as the National Geographic shot.

How much I would have missed had I gone home.

When we were all younger, much younger,

Soxie would rip my hands to shreds if I tried to pick him up.

So we have NEVER been friends.

However, this year his attitude has mellowed

as he has discovered that if he wants to be fed

at he same time as the dogs he has to come with me!

soxie_2258

A few years back we also provided each member of the backyard

with somewhere to curl up during the day.

maggie_0001This year, amid a few snarls from Maggie,

Soxie decided it was warmer to share Maggie’s bed.

They seem to have mellowed and enjoy each other’s company.

Soxie makes himself comfortable and

Maggie gets whats left over of her bed.

stones_7312My eyes say these rocks have some grey in them

and many other colours I think.

Trees_1879gSo, last Friday morning we had a rare windless morning…

moonset_0007which allowed me to capture the moon setting, around 0615,

behind those very same trees in my first photos.

Unfortunately I only had time for a few quick pics while the keetle boilled.

No time for a tripod, not that I ever use one a great deal.

So my photo is a bit darker than it was and I

have simply cropped out any surplus dark areas.

Autumn rains brings on new grass after a long, hot summer.

grass_3396Grasses planted by council in coastal reserves.
fountain-grass_0075We have some Native Grass planted in our garden…

fountain_grass_0077and it is thriving.
grass_treeWe did have an expensive grass tree…

to be a feature in our front yard.

However, it only lasted a year or two.

During  a recent drive I found an area where Grass Trees grow wild.

It is illegal to ‘harvest’ Grass Trees in Victoria.

Ours came from Queensland and the climatic change

may have accounted, partially, for its demise.

fog_0022Not sure what this grass is, but it does

make for a nice photo on a foggy morning
