Cee-BW-Challenge-Sides

~~~~~
Commencing with a Geelong side…
…the morning sun reflecting off the side
of this cargo vessel in Corio Bay.
Then a jump all the way over to
the Tower of London.
Sort of sides outside Buckingham Palace.
Big Ben has four sides/faces.
However, I  liked this view with
Winston Churchill in the foreground.
I will concede to cropping
just below the hedge top…
…and wondering what was in the foreground.
Then I moved onto my next photo.
The entrance to the Club Quarters Hotel in London.
Seeing as there is no official challenge this week,
I thought I would add to last week’s offering.
Last week I posted this photo and commentary….
Amid that crowd is a Beefeater at work
guiding tourists around the Tower of London.
and did not realise…
I had a better/close up photo of the man at work.
This from my 2017 trip to Arras, France.
Phil, an Aussie, operates Sacred Ground Tours
out of Arras across World War I Battlefields.
Serre Road Cemetery No. 2 was
the first cemetery we visited.
Phil is showing us how easy it is to find
a grave of a relative who perished in France.
Easy if you know which cemetery to visit.
If your relative is one of the tens of thousands
with no known grave, or an unknown soldier’s grave….
then that is a different story.
Workers from all over…
A gondolier.
My limited knowledge of lumberjacks’ work
tells me that they actually did climb trees
as part of every day work.
Memory could be way off though.
Happy to be corrected.
Beefeater Guide Tour
Amid that crowd is a Beefeater at work
guiding visitors around
the Tower of London.
While in Europe each guide carried a flag of some kind.
Trouble was there was so much to see
and dawdle over, the coloured flag
was often forgotten (by me).
All guides were very knowledgeable but
sometimes it was just nice to walk and look
without the constant commentary.
Our favourite African guide,
planning the next day.
Or was he offering up thanks for
a successful day just ended?
Today a quick visit to London then
off to Africa for costumes.A Beefeater at the Tower of London.
Outdoor entertainment at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
This group of young entertainers danced and
sang their way through many songs…
and costume changes during their performance
on the last day of what we thought was
our first and last visit to Africa.
