SUNDAY-STILLS-PC-Bucket-List-Images

~~~~~
I had hoped upon retirement that I may have been able
to sell a few photos to pay for equipment.
Pretty much what I used to do back in the 1980s
when taking wedding photos.
There are too many people who think photography is luck…
and to some extent it is.
Right place, right time, right settings.
Earlier this year I watched as a visitor to my display raved over this photo.
He couldn’t, or said he couldn’t believe it was a photo.
Travel is on my  bucket list.
 This post has been interrupted by talking
to our South African Guide about our 2020 visit.
I could cheerfully hang this shot on my wall.
Trouble is blue doesn’t go well with our colour scheme.
It would be great to be able to fund camera equipment from photo sales.
So that’s my bucket list…or a portion of it.
At Warrnambool’s Logans Beach…
I was fortunate enough to capture some
Southern Right Whales
splashing around in the nursery.
The right conditions and there are
plenty of splashes at Torquay’s Beaches.
Warrnambool’s
Hopkins Falls
August 2017
Bound to be a splash when this kite surfer touched down.
Black and White Tuesday
~~~~~

I have been wanting to visit Torquay again

for some time now.

With six-foot waves forecast today seemed to be ideal.

Just shows how much I know about surfing.

 The waves were there, however it was too windy,

and only a few brave souls took to the water.

And my ageing eyes found it difficult to see them

in the water such was their distance from shore.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Letter-W

~~~
My contribution for
this week’s challenge
Letter-W
(Needs to start with W and have two vowels in the word )
First up, back in South Africa’s
Kruger National Park.
Like the zebra crossings
it was a matter of waiting…patiently.
They were not in a hurry.
However, it appears this wildebeest was
moving very slowly.
At least Leo is smiling.
Was Willy the Wildebeest saying, kiss………
A Surf Coast Victoria, Wipeout.
 Our shopping,banking and business centre,
until we moved off the farm.
Fifty-five kilometres, one way,
ensured that a trip to Warrnambool
wasn’t just for a hamburger! 🙂
And should you be having difficulty
sorting out the syllables,
this may help……Warr/nam/bool
And if you really want to sound local
it sounds a bit like this….War/na/bool
🙂
A-Photo-a-Week-Challenge-Aquamarine
~~~~~~

I don’t know how I missed…

the Aquamarine challenge.

I quickly remembered photos…

which my eyes tell me are good for the post.

All photos taken at Torquay,

near Bell’s Beach, which is where the

Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach,

World Surf League Championship

is held each Easter.

Travel Theme-Over

~~~~~
My
Over
Travel Theme.
~~~~~

Decided to stay with my surfing theme this week…

and present some board rides which were definitely over.

Although still almost vertical, the facial expression says it all.

The next shot was of surging white caps

and no sign of a surfer, or board.

Could not recover from this one, or…

this ride on Monday, March 27, 2017.

Earlier in the morning I had driven an hour

to capture the sunrise reflection on the light house.

This is not the pick of the morning’s images

but it is certainly the best with the rainbow

over the light house.

As with all of mother nature’s splendour,

it only lasted minutes.

Props

At Torquay Beach…

surfers-torquay_3525

I found…

surfers-torquay_3528

three similar, but different props.

surfers-torquay_3496

back in mid November.

This appeared to be the most fun and

provided more photo opportunities.

surfers-torquay_3325

There was several hundred metres camera and subject.

Severe cropping seemed the best way to accentuate

the board and spray.

My

Snowy

Travel Theme.

So pleased that Ailsa left this theme as snowy rather than snow.

 Snowy I have…real snow I have never seen!!snow_flake_1961

Snow Drops transported from our farm home.

snowflakes_1939

Erlicheer…jonquil or daffodil?

 I cannot remember what was on the label

and Google gives the same images for both.

pelican_0060

Snowy white pelicans seem to love the Geelong area…

pelican_3035or maybe it’s just that there are wetlands which are

accessible to both birds and photographer.

torquay_0037

These snow caps draw out…

torquay_surfer_0092surfers any time of the year..

torquay_kite_3346Last week I saw my first kite surfer ever.

torquay_kite_3351

It looked more fun than board surfing.

Much quicker movement…

more photography opportunities.

ibis_0088Finally, a dear old Ibis.
