Again I have chosen far and wide…Nearing sundown in Botswana.

A Melbourne reflection.

Geelong’s Eastern Beach car park.

Corio Bay, Geelong

A nearby seagull.

 Not far from Geelong.

Lake Wendouree, Ballarat.

Merry Christmas

and a safe and prosperous

Near Year

to all.

A Photo a Week Challenge: Reflection

Weekly Photo Challenge-Heritage

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

Part of Geelong’s Heritage listing are

these old red brick buildings

on Geelong’s Waterfront.
These buildings used to house all wool bales for sale

and it was a tradition to visit the Geelong sales

when your wool was due to be auctioned.

Those in power, in their wisdom have placed the buildings,

of which these are but a few, on a heritage list.

This means that the externals facade will

forever remain the same, but…

as this one, the purpose and interior can be remodeled.

In this instance this is the

Waterfront Campus of

Geelong’s Deakin University.

On a personal level, part of my heritage has been

the connection to this gun which fired the first Allied shot,

from just across the Bay at Point Nepean, of World War I.

My Grandfather was part of that gun crew.

He went to serve on the Western Front in France and Belgium.

I plan to visit this area in a few weeks.

Weekly Photo Challenge-Reflecting

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

I have chosen some ‘Reflections’ this week.

Balyang Sanctuary…

in Geelong.

Balyang Sanctuary.

Balyang Sanctuary.

However, this one gave me time to reflect on the

levels of our backyard on May 11, this year.

Week 81

This was the sight that greeted us

on our first morning in Botswana, 2014.

One of my favourite reflection images.

Only trouble with the above image is that it is upside down.

Note the long thin branches run down

at 45 degrees on the left hand side.

Right way up…those branches are on the RHS

and I have included a fence post in the foreground.

Pic and Word Challenge: 81 Reflections

Black and White Challenge:

Mirror Images or Reflections.

I opted for reflections more than mirror images this week.

reflection_0024Geelong Foreshore.

Creek reflections.

Palm trees.

Just had to stop and take this shot.

Apart from BW and sharpening…no editing.

A small marina on Corio  Bay.

I  posted this in colour recently.

I will concede there was a fair bit

of Photoshop involved to tone down

bright spots and enhance reflections

in both versions.
