Word-of-Day-Challenge-Melodious

~~~~~
Nothing more melodious than a magpie.
They will happily share your snack…
…thank you for it
at the top of their voice.
Of course, they do expect more,
after their song.
Odd Ball
Week 1, 2016
~~~~~

I was late, again, remembering what time sunset was on Friday.
tree_0813

However, I did capture a few images and thought

this crop suitable for the Odd Challenge this week.

Even though I know what it is, my imagination goes wild

when I think of possibilities of what it could be.

tree_0813a

In context, unfortunately nothing more than a dead tree.

I think out of context is the better image.

Odd Ball

Week 1, 2016

~~~~~
This was the scene a few seconds after feeding
Maggie and Sox on Sunday morning.
magpies_0798
Although only five visible there was six birds
all looking for some food.
magpies_0799
The half slice of bread broke away and I left it for Maggie.
magpies_0800
The Maggies had other ideas though…
magpies_0801
and carefully aprooached the bread before
makiong a final pounce and…
magpies_0802
and running off with  it.
magpies_0803
All photos taken through the screen door so quality not so good.
 However, I have never seen the magpies come so close
and thought they were worth publishing.
Week 11
Our resident kleptomaniac has been at it again.magpie_0028
 Yes, Maggie has been visiting our neighbour and
as always leaves her loot at our back door.
This magpie was only about six to eight feet from me
as I shot through the glass.
I don’t think I have ever been as close to a magpie and
viewed their love of meat as I have with these magpies
at our current abode.
While it nearly 1100 Sunday morning in Victoria.
My World Clock tells me it still approaching 1700 Saturday
on
the West Coast of the US.
Time zones make life difficult at times.
I will correct links tomorrow.
Wordless Wednesday15-1102
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Meet Margaretmagpie_0012
Margaret is the resident magpie at the Geelong Botanical Gardens.
She volunteered to help me dispense with my coffee and slice.
magpie_0021I thought she was going to drink my coffee…
and had my hand over the mug.
But I was the mug.
She had her eye on the short bread biscuit
 which came with the coffee.
She could see the biscuits…
but there was a mug between her eyes and mine!
magpie_0023
The coffee shop attendant was having a chat
when the theft happened and
brought me another biscuit
as well as another for Margaret.
Black and White Tuesday,
 January 20, 2015
~~~~~

Our magpies were back again last week.

magpie_0023

This one had a close look at some bread I gave him,
magpie_0010sang a song of thanks,
magpie_0007before making sure that I had seen the performance.

Or maybe it was thinking that the kitchen table

was a making a good substitute for a tripod.

Odd Ball

Week 42

~~~~~
The magpies were in our backyard this afternoon.
(First photo taken through fly-wire door…hence softness)
magpie_2333I decided to feed them some bread as  usual.
Mum, swooped in quickly to within a few feet
of the back door.
Then…we heard it.
The young one squawking for a feed…
and it would not come and feed of its own accord.
Note: bread visible in bottom left corner.
sparrow_2376In the meantime, while ‘mum’ was feeding her baby,
this little sparrow came and helped itself to several
pieces of bread and all the while
the young magpie squawked for food.
There may have been a young a sparrow around…
but somehow, I doubt it.
A Word a Week Photography Challenge–Inside
~~~~~

My contribution for this week’s

 Word of the Week Challenge…

Inside

~~~~~
I enjoy this time of the year in the garden because…
daffodils_0130
after six or seven months of being locked away inside our garden beds, out of sight out of mind, our daffodils and jonquils push their way out to greet the winter sun.
~~~~~

goodFrom inside our house we watch our magpie ‘family’…

~~~~~
goodwhich has decided the bread and seed we provide is quite appetising.
~~~~~

magpie_0056These shots were taken though our glass door and the birds were only

about three metres from me.

eyes

I just have a feeling that this bloke could see, inside, me as much as I could him.
