Early morning lightning

Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and Pier.

Unfortunately, my camera lens was

not wide enough to capture the whole,

all to brief, show.

A few years ago I photographed this storm…as it dumped heavy rain on Geelong

in a very short space of time.

Some of the low-lying roads were

up to three feet under water,

while the sun was shining on me

This is what I call a real thunderstorm.

The downside to these is that

they often occur in the wee hours

of the  morning.

As the clock was leaving last Sunday and heading

into Monday I woke to flashes of lightning and

thunder rolling around the sky.

A mad dash for camera and tripod.

And a blue sky at midnight is what happens

when the ISO is set at 2500.

I thought I had totally wasted an hour,

more by the time I uploaded to my computer.

However, these were the only one’s which

showed any lightning captures.

Hope you enjoyed.

I think lightning looks good in either

colour or black and white.

A very recent foggy morning.

 Lastly my favourite recent photo.

A short sharp downpour provided me

with enough time to grab a camera and

photograph this rain.

This is a photo that looks better after editing

and also looks good in BW.

At least that’s my opinion.

Cee’s Black & White Challenge: Weather

Sun and storms are always easy to capture…

at least more so than snowy conditions.

Late January, 2016, these storm clouds

dumped a huge amount of rain on Geelong

in a short space of time.

Cars were floating in low lying areas

where water was two to three feet deep.

December 2014 produced this

spectacular display of lightning.

While we grumble about the wind

which now reaches our house,

due to lack of mature trees,

the plus side is those trees

do not block these displays of

nature at her finest.
