Flowers from York.

Our York friends had this hydrangea

growing in their garden.

At the time we  thought it unusual as we had

never seen a reddish coloured hydrangea.

Blue and  white being the standard colours

in our world.

Last week it was decreed that the previous occupier

of this position in our garden must be replaced.Sunday morning saw us at work moving the old pot

and adding a new one along with a Crepe Myrtle which,

I am told, grows to about a metre by one metre.

I didn’t enquire if it met all the requirements

of plants in our garden.

Tough, withstands heat, cold frost  and coastal conditions

are the usual things we look for when purchasing any plants.

In this exposed position on the southern end

of our house it will feel the hot north and cold south winds,

as well as the possibility of frostbite.

A few weeks ago I showed the beginnings of

these planter boxes, which I helped erect.

While I have been away some small plants have been planted.

Small and no labels to help me, however…

I think they are going to be a

nice addition in years to come.

its summer colour can be seen in the photo below.

We are/have always been told to hack/prune

our hydrangeas after they flower
