In 2017, I was fortunate enough to gain

a preview of the

Grieving Mother Memorial

in Ballarat.

From memory the

Grieving Mother

had been designed and

created by local artists.

She was receiving some finishing touches

as I photographed her…

…the day before the official opening/unveiling

to the public.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge: Preview

As ANZAC Day is Saturday April 25

I thought I would share some

appropriate images taken

during my Ballarat visit.

I was in Ballarat the day prior to

The Grieving Mother Memorial…

…being officially opened.

It is situated near Ballarat’s

Arch of Victory

in the

Avenue of Honour

The Grieving Mother…

unveiled about two years ago in Ballarat,

which is about a hour inland from Geelong.

The purple tint is due to incorrect camera settings

which I did not detect until too late.

Some more from Ballarat

These roses are part of a roundabout in

the Avenue of Honour.

They looked past their best but may have

another flush of colour around ANZAC Day

Some flax or native grass in the gardens…

 surrounding the Grieving Mother monument…

which was to be unveiled the next day.

the 75th anniversary of the

fall of Singapore on February 15, 1942.

Somewhere, or somehow, more’s the point,

my camera was moved to an incandescent setting.

Therefore many photos taken around here had/have

a purple or dark blue tinge to them.

I have tried to correct the colours in PS Elements.

They do look better.

But my eyes often deceive me.
