Book Review-Win-Lose-or-Draw

Win, Lose or Draw

(Cliff Hardy  #42)
by

Peter Corris

Win, Lose or Draw is the 42nd novel in Peter Corris’ easy listening Cliff Hardy series.

Set in Sydney, Coolangatta, Norfolk Island and Byron Bay, Cliff finds himself working for a client who not only trusts and thinks highly of Cliff, but also has a seemingly bottomless bank account.  This is something which Hardy finds novel and almost embarrassing to have not hundreds, but thousands of dollars for expenses.

A missing daughter, drugs and the sex trade are all interwoven to make Win, Lose or Draw a fast paced enjoyable story, with a wide range of enjoyable, and colourful, characters included as one would expected in scenarios such as this.

Mention must also be made of Dino Marnika, the third narrator of the Cliff Hardy series.  His gravelly voice is certainly different and suits the Cliff Hardy series.

Book Review-Beware-of-the-Dog

Beware of the Dog

(Cliff Hardy  #15)
by

Peter Corris

Although I have not read all of the Cliff Hardy novels, Beware of the Dog is the fifteenth in the Cliff Hardy series of novels by Peter Coriss.  It was my tenth Cliff Hardy read, which leaves me with over thirty to read if I want to read all available in the series.

Beware of the Dog begins with Cliff Hardy lecturing students at a Sydney College of Technical and Further Education (TAFE).  After the lecture he is approached by a student for an interview.  Quite rightly Cliff is sceptical about this and declines until she follows him to his office.

Upon accepting her as his client Hardy becomes wary of his new client’s mental stability.  The client also wants Cliff to follow her husband.  From there on there is twist upon twist and it did take some concentration to follow who belonged to whom.  And who is related to whom and any more will spoil the story.

Beware of the Dog is narrated by Peter Hosking who is an ideal narrator of the Hardy series of books.

As with all the Cliff Hardy books I have read so far, Beware of the Dog is a quick, enjoyable three star read.

Black Prince

(Cliff Hardy series)

by

Peter Corris

Peter Corris has produced another easy listening Cliff Hardy novel complete with the good, the bad, and a plot that keeps moving and involves drugs and racism.

Mention must also be made of Peter Hosking who does an excellent job of narrating the Cliff Hardy series.
