This warthog was fortunate that we

were only shooting with

Nikon and Canon DSLRs

We think we are fortunate to have

a happy and healthy

Granddaughter.

Word-of-Day-Challenge-Warty

~~~~~~~
~~~~~

warty

A hard rough lump growing on the skin,
caused by infection with certain viruses
and occurring typically on thehands or feet.
~~~~~
Is a warthog warty?
Well, sort of, according to Google
However, the “warts” that give warthogs their
name are actually protective bumps.
prodigious
remarkably or impressively great in extent,
size, or degree.
Forty-seven years ago this month
I purchased this painting in Alice Springs.
The Northern Territory’s
Ormiston Gorge
was one of the
late Henk Guth’s
favourite subjects.
However, Guth was a prodigious artist,
probably painting this in 30 minutes,
and this is probably worth little more
than the $150 I paid for it,
even though the artist died in 2002.
For me it is priceless.
FOWChallenge-Patriarch
~~~~~

patriarch

a system of society or government in which
the father or eldest male is head of the family
and descent is reckoned through the male line.

****

An elephant family is just the opposite

of this definition of patriarch.

The two smallest elephants in this group

may or may not be male.

The rest would be female with the matriarch

usually being the largest in the group.

Male elephants are sent packing to live

with other bachelors at around

three years of age.
