Around an hour drive from Vancouver Island’s

Victoria we came to the township of Chemainus,

famous for its Murals.

Some of these murals will follow in my

Photo Walk post.

These murals are not in any specific place,

that is a Mural Park, or similar.

Rather…

…they are on any wall…

…in the town.

Murals also…

…focussed on the pioneering days…

… when wind…

…steam…

…and manual labour was the way tasks were completed.

All murals, large or small, are…

…numbered so that visitors can

read the story of each mural.

I am assuming that is the reason for the numbers.

We barely had time to find our way

into town and back again

photographing murals as we found them.

Soon we were back on the coach to

catch our ferry across to the mainland.

I have seen/photographed

a few murals in Australia…

…but none as good as the

Chemainus Murals…

…at Chemainus…

…on Canada’s…

~~~~~
…Vancouver Island.
~~~~~

Closer to home…

…is Melbourne’s…

…Hosier Lane.

I love the Hosier Lane street art…

…some of which is surrounded…

…by graffiti.

I may be stretching the terms

doors and doorways this week.

Still in Canada’s

Vancouver Island.

Still in the Butchart Gardens,

this first image is a doorway leads us to

the Japanese Garden.

The gateway between old and new

Chemainus (presumably).

Finally, a fair dinkum doorway

taken from our horse and carriage

ride around Victoria.

Don’t know what happened last week.

Honestly thought Murals was this week.

As we left Vancouver Island…

we stopped at the town of Chemainus…

to view its famous Murals.

….before catching a ferry to

the Canadian mainland.

One of our first stops was at a small town called….

Chemainus on Vancouver Island.

Chemainus is known for the murals painted

on nearly every available wall.

And it appears that are not available they create one

to make an adorable back drop to this water wheel.

I have a similar photo/slide from my first visit to Vancouver.

The major difference between the photos is this Orca

is built of Lego blocks.

In 1976 the Orca was in captivity

and performed for tourists.
