Played around with a few photos this week

These abandoned sheds became my target.

A vignette helps eradicate the sky…

however, I think cropping the building is my favourite.

I think I have posted this one…or a version of it, and…
this was the original, out of the camera version.

No work this year so I decided to learn how to use Photoshop.

I am still learning but love being able to remove power lines etc.

I left home this morning in warm sunshine….

and only a few kilometres down the road

sunshine had turned to fog…

which was doing its level best to stop the sun breaking through.

On my way home I noticed that sun was breaking through

and had found a target in this old house.

Today I received notification that a blogger has taken one of my images

and turned it into a drawing on his blog.

Not sure whether to be flattered on annoyed.

I thought blogging etiquette was to ask permission to use another bloggers work.

On Monday morning a ventured over to Melbourne Zoo again

as I wanted to see our newborn member of

the gorilla family, which are, by the way,

my favourite primate

First up I checked out how dad was faring.

Like all dads he appears to be working out

how much this new addition is going to cost him.

Just hope he had enough fingers and toes.

And mum and bub…well they appeared to be

doing what all mums and bubs do….

in between

feeding and cleaning,

cleaning and feeding,

feeding and cleaning.

I thought a tribute to St Patrick suitable for today.

Years ago while on the farm and I was much younger,

I often heard my elders talking about Saint Patrick’s Day.

Dad always said we needed an Autumn break

(rain to end summer by today), however,

there was a saying…

that went along the lines of….

“If it rains before Saint Patrick’s Day

it is too early.  

If it rains after Saint Patrick’s Day

it is too late and…

if it rains on Saint Patrick’s Day

it will spoil the (horse) races.”  

Hard to please the Irish sometimes…and before anyone sends hate mail,

my ancestors were Irish and I’m damn proud of the fact! 🙂

And due to public pressure 😉 I have inluded some green for Saint Pat!

This afternoon I ventured out to Shelford’s, Leigh River again.

I have some family portraits take at the weekend

and wanted to have a quiet look around, beforehand.

I love old eucalyptus trees like these and think

they make great Black and White subjects.

This is my favourite tree,

with its highlights, lowlights, twists, turns,

 and reflections in the background.

Last weekend I decided to go have a look for myself.

This section of the beautiful, but almost dry, Leigh River

was the setting of the Shelford Duck race.

A few minutes later, the lead group of

seven hundred and fifty ducks came into view…

which I thought created a beautiful sight.

My earliest photography experiences were during

my time at boarding school where I

captured images of boarding school life.

The late 70s saw the beginning of ten years

of photographing weddings

for friends, relatives and colleagues.

Now, at the other end of my working life

I think it is now time to again

focus on my favourite past-time…

photography.
