Word-of-Day-Challenge-Glimpse

~~~~~
glimpse
“she caught a glimpse of the ocean”
see or perceive briefly or partially.
Each morning of our European holiday,
our tour director would begin with the phrase…
‘...well you’ve done (insert city name),
tonight we will be in (insert city name)…’
While I thoroughly enjoyed our trip…
I did feel that we were only getting
a glimpse of each city…the highlights.
The following year I returned
to Arras in France for a
Western Front Battlefields tour.
Arras, Bell Tower
Because I was in Arras for 5 nights
I think I enjoyed that brief trip
as much as any of the cities
we visited the previous year.
Word-of-Day-Challenge-Oblong
~~~~~

~~~~
Oblong…defined as
a rectangular object or flat figure with
unequal adjacent sides.
I did not take one picture of the whole square however
I think Place des Heros in Arras, France,
fits the definition of oblong.
I was just under the clock face for the above images.
The roof in the foreground of the above image…
Arras, Bell Tower
was lit up around 2200 hours.
Was happy to see I was not the only person
interested in photographing the scene.
I think and it has been confirmed, that…
this dress could be called a deb(utante) frock.
This flock of sheep and herd of cattle…
are certainly livestock.
A group of rocks just outside Geelong
known as Dog Rocks.
Many photographers photograph this
rock formation, both day and night.
Weekly Photo Challenge-Favorite-Place
~~~~~

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

Favorite Place…

~~~~~
Considering I have a prepared post for the
Tuesday Photo Challenge
of my favourite local places…
I decided to post some favourite European places.
The hands down winner for this title goes to
Het Zand Square in Brugge.
I’m not sure if it was the first mainland
European city we stopped at…
 or the fact that I managed some half decent
night shots of the square and fountain.
Arras, Bell Tower
Last year it was the Place des Heros and the Bell Tower,
in Arras which won my heart.
And after hearing about Menin Gate from my Father
it was with joy and sadness I visited sites along
the Western Front that were synonymous
with my Grandfather’s World War  I war service.
  Tomorrow are favourite local places
posted in
Tuesday Photo Challenge.
Particularly bad graphic card troubles this morning.
I do hope all photos are sharp.
I will check and change photos if necessary.
Weekly Photo Challenge-Glow
~~~~~

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

Glow

~~~~~
My glows are from
Arras, France and Geelong
this week.The Arras Bell Tower lit up by surrounding lights.
A combination of wall light and flash light
gave an interesting glow to the wall
of St. Germain’s cafe in Arras.
During daylight these are just white balls
adorning Geelong’s Foreshore.
However…
 after dark they become glowing beacons.
