While searching for this week’s post…

I found this sight-seeing bus…a way

for visitors to see Melbourne.

York’s signpost pointed the way to

various point in the city…

as did these signs on a

Freeway/Autobahn in Germany.

While visiting Fromelles we had to walk down this path…

to see the site of the Fromelles mass graves

which were recently exhumed and created

the Fromelles Military Cemetery.

Finally, this is the way to the

Toronto Avenue Military Cemetery

in Belgium.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Teddy-Bears-Toys

My contribution for

this week’s challenge

Teddy Bears, Toys

A variety of dolls and toys

but mostly re-posts I’m afraid.Candi’s much used and much loved ropes.

Over twenty years old but still brings a smile to our faces.

I think these may also qualify as dolls…

even though they are a bit big for the toy box.

However, there was one young lady

who would have found room for this one.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge-Dishes-Silverware

My contribution for

this week’s challenge

I am not certain that I have nailed this challenge this week.

There are dishes that make one lick one’s lips.

 Then there are these dishes….

plates, bowls and cutlery.

Unfortunately all these need washing

after the dish in consumed.

Finally, there appears to be some additions to this table.

Something to lubricate the gastronomical tract maybe?

Travel Theme-Cream

Travel Theme.

My creamy post for this week was nearly a non-event…

until I remembered our morning tea slice

of Black Forest Cake which probably contained

enough calories to last us several days.

That thought then lead on to our

strawberry and cream morning tea.

Sadly we did not sample these as we were

still feeling the effects of a

larger than normal breakfast.

Weekly Photo Challenge-Wanderlust

My contribution for this week’s challenge…

Some previously unpublished photos

from some of the cities we visited

during our travels last September.
Brugges or is it Bruge?

I m never sure and would love to hear/see

how locals spell the name.

No visit to Amsterdam would be complete

without visiting a diamond cutting factory.

Rhineland-Black Forest region.

Finally, Venice.

Jo’s Monday Walk2017-Wk-09

Last week we had just arrived at…

the Cuckoo Clock factory.

A short walk found us at the main building,

which was designed as a huge cuckoo clock…

with figurines waltzing around the balcony

to mark the hour of the day.

Although photos do not do it justice, I thought

the best part was being able to see

what happens behinds the scenes.

We were given a short talk about cuckoo clocks,

which are all made from Black Forest wood, I believe…

and shown various types of clocks…

The clocks were beautiful, however…

being hand-made many had price tag reflecting

the number of hours it took

to create this work of art.

rhineland_cuckoo_0089As we left the factory we reminded how far were from home.

The pointer above Shanghai points to Sydney some 16,606 kilometres.

Add another 878km via the inland route (8 hours drive),

or 1,380km along the coast road (18 hours drive) to that journey

for those of us who live in or near Melbourne.

Thank goodness for air travel.

So!  After all that looking, listening and photographing,

in congenial surroundings, it was time…

for a slice of Black Forest cake

before continuing on our journey.
