Week 28

I headed out for a drive last week and stumble upon

this road which was part of my drive to and from work.which-way_6931That was until a bridge was closed for repair

and I discovered going to long way (about 3 km extra)

saved a few minutes in time

because I only had to come to a complete stop

on two occasions compared with seven on the short trip.

which-way_6932I always going home…down the hill.  🙂

It does not look cold, and is not compared to snow cold,

but it was a cold week, last week.

It is almost balmy, this week, with temperatures

heading towards double figures.

Week 27

One of the first animals we sighted at Werribee Zoo

were African Wild Dogs.

whichway_0036It was sad to see them trotting around this track

and not hunting breakfast as we did last year.

whichway_0129Later on these giraffes kindly stood aside as

we drove through their paddock.

Week 26

What else would you expect to find in a lane,
laneway_0029

but a set of stairs.
laneway_0030I did not venture down to explore below ground.

I had a feeling that I was holding the group up at times.
laneway_0028And these people all knew which way they were going.

But seriously, forming a queue for a cup of coffee.

Come on!!!!

It can’t be that good!!!

By the time I found these tracks, on Sunday…Flinders-St_0178

my feet were definitely trying to tell me something.Southern-Cross-Station_0223And it was the same something my knees were grumbling about.
Southern-Cross-Station_0225By the time I took this shot all aforementioned joints

realised they were in the home straight…

Southern-Cross-Station_0226and knew exactly which way they were going.

A wet foggy day a few weeks back…

whichway_0158and a slow drive, seeking out the elusive Brown Falcon,

led me down a country road with said Falcon

just keeping out of range and on the move.

About twenty years or so years ago, an aluminium company…

which-way_0043 built a smelter at Portland, in the South West of Victoria.

This was how power was and is delivered to the Portland smelter.

Old Barwon Paper Mill

(Fyansford, Geelong).

paper-mill_6485On Saturday the Old Barwon Paper Mill was open to the public.

Being a migrant to the area…I didn’t even know it existed.

paper-mill_6482The main buildings are in the background of this shot.

There is only the magnificent old blue stone buildings left

as the site is now privately owned and, I think,

in the process of being developed as a tourist attraction.

Another view of the Moorabool Valley.

moorabool-valley_6256The only other time I have seen a view like this was in 1980..ish,

one morning after it had snowed in Central Victoria.

I nearly jumped through the roof of my car

the first time a ball of snow fell from

the trees and land on my windscreen.
