red

Since red is the colour of blood,
it has historically been associated
with sacrifice, danger, and courage.
Modern surveys in Europe and the United States
show red is also the colour most commonly associated
with heat, activity, passion, sexuality, anger, love, and joy.

A Red-Breasted Weaver…

…and a Crimson Breasted Shrike

both from Botswana and both sporting

differing shades of red.

This would be close to one of the best sunrise images

I have captured.

On Sunday I made some lame excuse for going

to the supermarket to purchase

a Valentine’s Day card and flowers.

What a surprise I received when I saw a sign

stating Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14

displayed among the blooms.

At least I was early and not trying to purchase

when only the dregs were left.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

    • Thank you, Kirstin. A couple of times each year we get parrots in our backyard, however, as with most of our wildlife they are skittish. African wildlife was all too willing to pose for the cameras. Made for some great images. 😉
