This morning’s mail brought me

the largest envelope I receive each year.

Sadly it also contians the biggest bill..insuranace.

On my way out of Geelong this morning

I decided to take a riverside road as I had

heard about the high water levels.

Little did I know that 150 metres along the road

I would come upon these road closure barriers

and river water nearly 100 metres from the Barwon River.

The above image was captured on October 24,

and published here, so I decided to have

another look this morning…

…and this is the sight that greeted me.

This is the upper reaches of the Barwon River

and has a long way to travel before…

it reaches Geelong City.

Last weekend I measured 33mm (132 points) in our rain gauge.

Friends who live upstream from here measured 53mm,

all of which has fallen on sodden ground

which has tried to absorb nearly 7 inches

that fell in October.
