~~~~~
This would be nearly as long a piece
of straight road as you would find in
the Great Ocean Road area.
Even on a quiet day it only takes one
overly cautious driver to have traffic
bumper to bumper.
Along winding walk down into the Ruakuri Cave
at Waitomo Glow Worm Caves
New Zealand.
And there is only one entry/exit,
so another long winding walk
up to ground level.
  1. I’m glad you mentioned these places, Woolly. I would have never thought of the caves. The Great Ocean Road is winding–it’s true–and a great example. A long drive on that road was one of our highlights of our trip. I hope all’s well with you.
    • I’m glad you enjoyed the drive Patti. The last time I drove the GORoad was to show visiting Canadian friends. Temperature was 44 and car park at Loch Ard Gorge was melting. We spent 6-8 hours driving the GOR but made it home in 2 hours using inland roads/highways. It is a beautiful drive if you have time, though.
  2. The Great Ocean Road was one of my favorite memories from our visit to NZ and Australia Woolly so thank you for the fond memory. As for the glow worm caves, I went as far as I could go until there was absolutely no sunlight and then had to turn back due to severe claustrophobia. My husband said they were amazing.
    • They were amazing, Tina. We visited all all three, the Glowworm and Aranui Caves and the Ruakuri the following morning where we were lucky enough to be the only visitors so we had the guide all to ourselves in the Ruakuri Cave. I did a camping trip through nZ in 1980ish. UNfortunately the caves were not on the agenda. They should have been. 🙂
