resign

*. accept that something undesirable cannot be avoided

~~~~~
After one or two laps of the back yard Taji resigns herself…
…to the fact that Labradors are not made to catch,
or keep up with Kelpies.
Like all Labradors she is happy to watch
from the sidelines while gasping for breath.
Word-of-Day-Challenge-2Ducks
~~~~~

The obvious choice…

…for a duck  themed post.

~~~~~
~~~~~

Cricket is where another meaning of

the word ‘duck’ is frequently used.

Should a batsman not make any runs before he/she

goes out, they are said to have made,

or be out for, a duck.

Nor does it matter if the batter has be in the

field all day or for a few minutes.

No runs equals a duck.

Should the batsman go out on the first ball

they have faced it is said that he/she has

made a ‘golden duck’.

Golden does sound better however with the

quirkiness of cricket it is far worse for

the batting side and much better

for the bowling side.

FOWChallenge-Tub

tub

*   a wide, open, deep, typically round container
with a flat bottom used for holding liquids,
growing plants, etc.
*  plant in a tub.
~~~~~
Not exactly conforming to the definition.
However, our raised garden bed does have
a plastic bottom which we hope will retain
enough summer moisture to keep plants happy.
We decided to raise the planting bed because the soil contains
too much clay, and is always damp/wet.
Hopefully, a nice depth of garden loam these plants will flourish
along with the daffodils I added in the bare spots.
~~~~~~

There are many types of ‘waves’,

however, I am sticking with

my most photographed waves.

Some smallish waves near Gibson steps

which are near the Twelve Apostles.

The rest of this week’s images were taken near…

…or at, Torquay beaches.

The waves were important in as much as…

…they gave my subjects…

…somewhere to play.

One of my favourite photos,

although I don’t think the surfer

would agree it was his best moment.

Word-of-Day-Challenge-Rose

~~~~~
A few minutes of burning gas and
carefully directing the hot air
into our balloon…
…and it rose quietly into the
chilly Melbourne morning sky.
A rose by any other name…
Valentine’s Day roses.
Their botanical name is Helleborus.
Their common name is Winter Rose,
and they should be in flower soon.
Also known as Snow, Lenten,
or Christmas Roses,
North of the Equator.
