In Florence, hot, weary looking for

a cold drink and a place to sit for a while.

I ordered iced coffee…expecting a glass

of coffee flavoured milk, some ice and

at least one if not two scoops

of ice-cream to help

further chill the liquid.

Needless-to-say I was surprised to see

this cocktail/martini glass in front of me.

It did contain iced coffee.

Very strong coffee and some ice.

It was definitely a case of,

When in Florence, do as the Florentines do.

And I did.

  1. I went to Italy last summer and had the exact same issue 🙂 It was too strong so I did ask the waiter for some milk or half-n-half. The poor guy was so offended but he did get me some cream 😀

  2. … and how was it? Did you like it?

I wonder how the Florentines would react to your suggestion of adding ice cream to their coffee 🙂

    Thanks for joining the challenge!

    • It was too strong for my taste. However, being a good visitor I didn’t complain. MY sister in law married into an Italian family. He father in law often used to roll out tiny espresso cups for coffee at the end of a family birthday/gathering. I probably tasted one cup of ‘Italian’ coffee on one occasion, but that’s all. 🙂
