~~~~~
In my future…
I like to be able to sell a few photos
to pay for my camera gear.
A couple of years ago I watched
a potential customer exclaim,
That’s a photo!‘  three times
before he walked on and purchased
another exhibitor’s painting.
We probably all exhibit some self bias
when viewing our own creations, however,
I know which one I would have
prefered on my wall.
Self marketing is not my strong suit…
..nor is selecting the right photo.
For example, this shot was taken
to learn depth of field
with my Nikon D90.
I thought it passable.
MGW loves it and it still
adorns one of our walls.
Something to do with
matching our colour scheme 🙂
  1. Your post made me smile, Woolly. It’s true that it’s hard to be objective about our own work. And self-marketing isn’t easy for many of us. I find it very difficult. But kudos for putting your work out there! Bravo!
    • Thank you. As mentioned the guy raved about my second photo and then purchased a small (A4) painting. As far as ‘art’ goes I am pretty hopeless. My photos seldom follow any rules…thirds, composition etc. However it is fun.
    • Must be honest my ‘artistic’ mind does not think of matching colours, tonings. The browns do fit with our walls colours. THe very first painting I ever purchased (in 1975) is one of Ormiston Gorge in the Northern Territory. Strong colours…red ochres, blue skies.
