Perseus with the Head of Medusa~~~~~

Back in my woolclassing days

a clock ran our day.

Shearers were not permitted to begin shearing

prior to 7.30 AM.

Each day was divided into 4 ‘runs’ of two hours.

 First run: 0730-0930

Morning smoko: 0930-1000

 Second run:1000-1200,

 Third run:1300-1500,

Afternoon smoko; 1500-1530

 Fourth run:1530-1730

At three minutes before the end of each run

a bell was rung to signify that shearers

could not catch another sheep to shear.

This was to give shed staff time to clean up

the shed before meal breaks and at the end of the day.
