One-Word-Sunday-Luck

Our last evening in South Africa, 2013.

An unexpected game drive…

…produced this sighting of two 8 week old lion cubs.

Twenty minutes later and after nearly 300 photos

of lion cubs watching tourists

we departed due to failing light.

So lucky.

That was early October 2013,

their mother was dead in mid-September 2014.

Until this week we have wondered if they survived.

Yesterday (Saturday) we heard via Facebook

that they still roam the area.

One Word Sunday Challenge:  Luck

FOWChallenge-Wistful

~~~~~
wistful
having or showing a feeling of
vague or regretful longing.
I would venture to suggest
that these images…
…depict two wistful pups.
Neither pup wanted to be shown
how to eat a bone,
they just wanted to eat.  🙂
I spent of my working life working with…
…sheep on our sheep farm.
A good sheep dog was invaluable and
a great companion on many long days
alone in the wool shed
or ploughing paddocks.
Cattle were also part of the family farm
until the 1983 drought.
It was decided that it was much easier
to keep sheep alive than it was to
feed cattle during drought conditions.
Even though I am not a ‘cat’ person,
cats were/are also an invaluable part
of any farm as hay stacks attract
both rodents and reptiles.
Cats helped limit rodents especially
and would not back away from snakes either.
More and more farms are being turned into
huge power generation sites over
the past decade or so.
One of the first signs of spring
being around the corner…
…is the arrival of bulbs flowering in the garden.
Another sign is the patchwork of
golden paddocks/fields of canola in bloom.
I would love to see the surrounding area
from the air at this moment.
Word-of-Day-Challenge-Habit
~~~~~

habit

a settled or regular tendency or practice,

especially one that is hard to give up

The first thing Taji  does

when let off for a run is…

…is to check Candi’s kennel for any morsels

which Candi may have left.

She also checks out

the area surrounding the kennel.

Just in case..
