    • The hyena was only about 15 feet away. We also had some lost Wild/Painted Dogs poking around. The impala scout around our camp as did the elephant. We had just zipped the tent one night and a lion roared….made the MGM lion sound like a kitten. Found its tracks next morning a bit further away that elephant. if you are a movie goer look for the paw print scene in The Lion King movie. Was a huge foot print.

      • During our 2013 African Safari, one of our drivers told of his parents on a camping honeymoon. Mum woke and thought Dad had rolled over her side of sleeping bag/bed/whatever. Took her a few sleepy prods to realise she was poking at the canvas and it was a lion which had taken up residence outside her side of the tent. This young bloke liked to tell a story so not quite sure if true….but sure does make a good yarn. 🙂
