I never knew my grandfathers, but I have heard wonderful stories about them. 🙂

Likewise here. One lost a leg at Gallipoli and passed away shortly after the start of WW II. My paternal grandfather, the one I often mention, died a week or so after we had our photo taken together. I was just 18 months old, so don’t remember him at all.
