I turned to nature for details
again this week.
A Red Headed Weaver
Not often we can get this close to a giraffe.
The gives a trunk a whole new look.
A tusk
I did not know that twice the circumference of
an elephant’s front foot equalled the distance
from its shoulder to the ground.
Or, that its front foot is circular…
while its rear feet were oval in shape.
And while I took those photos it was
keeping an eye on me.
Admittedly I have edited this photo
to accentuate the stripes.
However, I could not have achieved that clarity
if it had been the other end of the zebra.
This is both ends of one animal.

Extremely close shots. Heavy details in each picture. Wow!

The best part about these shots, in my opinion, is that the weaver, giraffe, elephant trunk and zebra shots were all taken in their natural environment….with a 70-300 mm lens.

these are great, never get that close to an elephant just in case they decide to “Ahhh choo”

Thank you 🙂 Agreed…an ‘Ahhhh Choo’ could be messy, but I still love them. Our guide estimated we sighted around 3,000 on our last visit to Africa with about 1,000 in one sighting. They are gorgeous creatures.
