My contribution for this week’s challenge…
Unlikely
~~~~~
Beginning with the worst of my photos this week.
This Kingfisher hovered relentlessly…
Before splashing down into the
Okavango Delta waters for its lunch.
There are many images of this
white crowned shrike
sitting, flying or landing,
on the Internet.
However, I could not find one with the bird balanced
as precariously as this as it took to flight.
This African Harrier Hawk seemed to be checking
his feet were not attached to its perch…
before launching into flight.
While the above photos were unlikely occurrences
to capture they were the result
of holding down the shutter button in anticipation.
This last photo is much closer to home.
Our back yard in fact about two weeks ago.
I have never seen a bird of prey
kill another bird before.
Amazing. What a show of nature
Thank you. I think I have said it before but I think nature is one of my favourite subjects
Thank you. SA wildlife tends to put on better performances than ours does…in my opinion. Our wildlife stays away from us whereas African wildlife is not afraid of human interaction.
Once I saw a bald eagle swoop down on a seagull that was inching ever closer to our picnic lunch. The eagle was so silent I didn’t realize what was happening until the seagull squawked and my friend screamed. No photos but I had seen several eviscerated seagulls around and wondered what was killing them!
This was the first time I have ever seen anything like this. So was a bit of a buzz…especially with the photos.
