This week we visit the…

 Australian 5th Division Memorial and Cemetery

at Polygon Woods.

If you have good eyesight you may just make out

the obelisk which is

the 5th Division Memorial

overlooking the cemetery.

 What was more difficult to see was

this flight of steps up to the Butte

where the obelisk is located.

    • Wee were told and I think I have since read that there are over 2,500 Commonwealth War Grave Cemeteries along the Western Front, Jo. I’m sure we only visited a dozen or so. I think that was a Commonwealth figure/number. My guess is that American ans German Army cemeteries are not in that number…however, I may be incorrect!
