Black and White Tuesday

~~~~~
As mention in an earlier post, my Monday
drive to Halls Gap in the Grampians,
or the Southern end of the Great Dividing Range,
had a foggy beginning.
However once the mountains came in sight
they were worth stopping for a photo opportunity.
Taken from the Halls Gap car park this peak
appears quite distant.
At least forty years ago I did stand atop that peak
after a group of us walked…..
‘climbed’ would have sounded better,
up there mostly in bare feet.
I always wanted to repeat the walk.
Alas…I don’t think it is going to happen.
Just below this image, out of shot,
is the Halls Gap shopping centre.
I’m sure I read, in the Canadian Rockies, in  1976,
that The Great Dividing Range was 40,000 years old
and well and truly eroded
before the Rockies were formed.
Ten minutes on Google can only tell me both ranges
were formed around 300,000,000 years ago.
