I thought this a rather odd addition to the…

 French countryside.

Had it had an untimely landing

or it is just beginning to rise?

Two questions among others, to which

we will never know the answer as two blinks

and it was again out of sight.

Travel Theme.

~~~~~

The view over Lake Lucerne from…

 Mt Rigi (nearly 1,800 metres, or 5,897 ft high)…

puts the volcanic cones dotting

 Victoria’s Western Plains

into perspective.

Among others Mt Warrnambool (216 metres or 709 ft high)…

and Mt Elephant (240-metre-high 790 ft)

are only hills when compared to the Swiss Alps

and many other Alpine regions throughout the world.

Still I like my mini mountains 🙂

one of my favourite drives with its stately eucalypts.

 

Many years ago these trees…

 

or perhaps this one, photographed on Thursday…

 

would have seen out there days as part of a dray…

either the frame…

 or a wheel.

MGW first briefly sighted this scene

as we passed by in our coach.

It wasn’t until we had some free time that we

stumbled upon it again and discovered it to be a memorial…

for those who suffered in the

July 14, 2016, terrorist attack

on Promenade des Anglais,

some two months earlier.

It was a rather sobering site and gave us an insight…

to the feelings and reactions of many people.

We only have happy memories of Nice…with

just a peep at its sadder side.

I am oh so late this week…

There are times when my camera is

definitely a tool of trade.

And considering I spent 5 years teaching people

how to use these, they went from a fun

addition to home to a tool very quickly.

From our garden…October 19.

These shots were taken only a few days ago.

Planted about twelve months ago, I think…

to see if it would add some life

to a bare dry patch in our garden.

I think we succeeded…and so does Taji.

Africa’s, Lilac Breasted Roller.

My contribution for this week’s

Housing – How the other half lived

~~~~~

After posting the refugee camp, I thought I would

go in the opposite direction.

The front yard of the Shonbrunn Palace…

inside…

 and the back balcony.

We were told that this palace was

the Summer Palace and known as The Cottage

because it only had 1,400 rooms.

The Winter Palace consisted of 3,000 rooms,

so I guess it was a cottage, comparatively speaking.

A vast difference to the accommodation in the refugee camp.
