My contribution for this week’s challenge…
Landscape
~~~~~
This week some local landscape to begin with.Tasmanian Blue Gums at harvest time.
The foreground, while still containing a lot of off-cuts from harvest,
has coppiced and the trees are nearly twenty feet high again.
The trees in the back ground should be harvested by now.
And so this little slice of landscape is constantly changing.
A part of the Moorabool Valley are near Geelong.
South Africa.
Botswana village
Okavango Delta.
Last, but not least, one of our favourite African scenes.
We felt we really had been to Africa after
a brief stop here between
Lekhubu Island and The Okavango Delta
in Botswana.
Wow! Very cool. Guess what! I am learning about not only many parts of America but also many many parts of the world through this particular Landscape Challenge! I just just love what it offers! South Africa is one of them! Through different bloggers’ eyes, everything comes in different perspectives and colors and compositions, which all are part of South Africa! Thank you for sharing!
The third photo is beautiful and I think I would have picked it as Africa if I’d not been told. All great landscapes.
Thank you. That photo was taken on October 4, 2013 at Sausage Tree Safari Camp in Greater Kruger Park.
We have a sausage tree from South Africa growing in our botanic gardens here in Noosa. The fruit are most interesting. Wonder if it is named after the same tree . Your photo is great.
I initially thought that a sausage tree was someone’s idea of a joke until I saw a photo of one online. I have just Googled ‘sausage tree, Noosa’ and the images I see are similar to those in Sth Africa. However, I don’t remember seeing any fruit on the trees at the time we were there. Sausage tree/Kruger Park and Noosa are roughly on the same latitude.
I think it would have to be the same tree. Thanks for googling. It really is a sight with all the sausages hanging off it.
I really did think someone was playing a joke when I first heard the name. Then I stayed 6 nights at Sausage Tree Safari Camp and never really looked for/at the Sausage trees….although I think we parked the game drive vehicles under said trees each night.
I can assure you if there had been sausages on them at the time you would have noticed them and taken a zillion photos. I can just imagine you thinking someone was having a laugh.
Thank you for first of all for the pling-back. Great entry – Africa I know nothing about as a traveller …. my pick has to be the Delta image.
Really love the South Africa landscape photo. Reminds me of our safari that now seems so long ago!
Thank you Miriam. I suppose there are oodles of sights like tihs on Africa, however, it was the only one we stopped to photograph.
